The Bomb Squad Stories......
Read
how it all started!
What is The Bomb Squad......
The
Bomb Squad is a group of young partying professionals in different
fields in many different cities. Chicago serves as the home
base, while members have branched out and live in St. Louis,
Hollywood, New Orleans, and Phoenix. The Bomb Squad is constantly
initiating new members that party with us and spread the word.
We can be seen wearing a green "bomber" hat that
dignifies its most loyal members.
History of The Bomb Squad......
The
Bomb Squad began at Eastern Illinois University in 1999 during
a drunken historic bar crawl weekend. Several members of The
EIU Chapter of Delta Chi were instrumental in its beginning
and are still friends to this day. See the story above Modest
Beginnings Parts I & II. Learn about the history of our
mascot Wisemancorndog (missing now for many years), and The
Green "bomber" Hats. We go to every major party
with the biggest being Mardi Gras in New Orleans.
Where to see The Bomb Squad......
CBS
Members are constantly out during the week & weekends
in Naperville & Chicago. Catch us at our regular bars
in Naperville - Rizzo's, The Lantern, 29, and Bar Louie. In
the city there are too many to list - See us at Durkin's,
and Carol's late night. Look for anyone wearing the green
bomber hat!
How to join The Bomb Squad......

II. The Search for the perfect Margarita........continues
Last night I hit another chain mexican restaurant to test
out their margaritas. On the border was where I conducted
further research. I was excited when I saw the way they promoted
their margarita's with a separate menu in the shape of a lime.
I wanted to test two theories: 1) that 1800 cuervo is bad
for margaritas, 2) the grand marnier is good. I combined both
of these in their create your own margarita by choosing tequilla,
and the liquor. The results: I found a strong tasting margarita,
but not one that you could drink over and over into drunken
margarita bliss. Theory 1 proved: Cuervo 1800 is a bad choice
for margaritas. Theory 2 inconclusive: Although Grand Marnier
was good in a previous pre-made cuervo (gold) margarita mix,
it was not good with 1800. Further testing must be done to
get conclusive evidence on Grand Marnier.
Finally I wanted to taste the On The Border House Margarita
which was only 6.89 compared to the previous one which was
$12 (he only charged me $9). Upon questioning the server it
was only their mix, and Sauza Tequila. This would give me
a chance to test yet a third theory: That Sauza Tequila is
great for margaritas. Conclusion: The Sauza margarita was
great. The simple mix they used tasted good at a good price.
It was a margarita that one could drink all night. Theory
3: That Sauza (so far) is the best tequila that I've tasted
in margaritas.
Rating Scale:
5 = great taste, powerful to do the job
4 = great taste, good amount of tequila
3 = bad taste, powerful to do the job
2 = great taste, weak
1 = bad tasting, weak
So far in testing Rock's Margarita's: Lalo's Ultimate Margarita
(5), Chili's El Presidente (2), On The Border CYO Margarita
1800 & Grand Marnier (3), OTB House Sauza Rocks (4).
Tequila: Sauza (In), 1800 (Out) , TBD Grand Marnier. Any
orange 'juice' in margaritas (Definitely Out).
Next Up: Caesar's on Clark in Chicago in a few weeks.

I. The Search for the perfect Margarita........
This summer I've been on a quest finding the perfect margarita.
Currently the best one I've found at Lalo's restaurant, The
Ultimate Margarita. Tastes like they use fresh lime juice,
and a good amount of tequila (Two things neccessary to make
a great one). This weekend I found a mix that is pretty good.
Jose Cuervo makes a good one that has Grand Marnier added
in. Its a good combination not to sweet or sour. I also added
some Sauza Tequila in it to spruce it up. It did the job at
Buffet this weekend. My next stop while in the city to do
revisit Caesar's on Clark. I've heard some good things.
Next up, is finding the perfect recipe for make at home from
scratch margaritas. So far in my research I've heard some
key ingrediants:
Reposado Tequila, Fresh Lime/Lemon Juice, and Cointreau or
Grand Marnier instead of triple sec. After further testing
I'll post my findings.
